The Ultimater 2023—The 2nd UM Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exhibition, organised by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Macau (UM), opened today (27 October). More than ten higher education institutions in Beijing and Macao, including UM, the Macau University of Science and Technology, Peking University, and Tsinghua University, participate in the exhibition to showcase over 70 technology innovation projects and startup companies. The exhibition aims to support the participating projects and startup companies in forging partnerships and seizing investment and financing opportunities. It has attracted nearly 200 investors, scholars, and related practitioners to visit the exhibition.
In his speech, UM Rector Yonghua Song said that the event aims to showcase UM’s achievements in industry-academia collaboration to entrepreneurs, the business sector, investors, and public institutions. It serves to facilitate Macao’s industrial upgrading, diversification, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He also expressed hope that the Ultimater 2023 platform will enable higher education institutions in Macao and Beijing to exchange experiences in various fields and allow Macao practitioners to contribute to innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare and Chinese medicine industries.
Themed ‘life sciences’, the exhibition has invited several guest speakers to deliver talks on topics such as the development and investment trends in life sciences and the health industry, research and development of medicine, university technology transfer, and entrepreneurship, to provide participants with insights into the development trends of the health industry. In addition, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship organised guided tours of the exhibition for more than 40 local secondary school students to help them gain a deeper understanding of life sciences.
