“From Research to Industry: Shall We Start a Business?” Successfully Organized and Event Highlights

Dr. Liu Yunhuai, researcher of Peking University, winner of the National Excellent Youth and Vice Chairman of ACM China Council, gave a special lecture “From Research to Industry: Shall We Start a Business?” at 2:30 pm on the 24th of this month in the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Liu explained to the audiences about the major differences between research, industry, and entrepreneurship, and also his successful experience and failure in these three areas at first. Then elaborated through a number of examples to let all the audiences understand the various elements of entrepreneurial success, including his working experience in the Ministry of Public Security to discuss the entrepreneurial platform. And through raising the case of a fingerprint identification technology entrepreneurial investigated by several professors from the Peking University, he talked about their bottlenecks and breakthroughs in the technology transfer process. He also discussed the stagnant development of ofo in terms of the formation of their team and equity distribution system. Dr. Liu’s lecture was full of whims, humorous and interesting, and the attendees were all immersed in it.

In the Q&A session, Dr. Liu pointed out that Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Greater Bay Area is a hot spot for entrepreneurship, with a good business atmosphere and national policies. He encouraged all the audiences to actively try to run their own business, because if the business could not operate successfully in this Greater Bay Area, the probability of success in elsewhere would be even lower.
