The University of Macau (UM) successfully held the second round of Business Plan Presentation of the 2020 Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition during 18th – 19th May. Sixteen shortlisted teams of Macao Regional Competition showcased their innovative business plan and interacted with the mentors through online platform.
Affected by COVID-19, unlike the previous year, the competition is conducted online this year. The second round of the competition was held in the whole day of 18th May, and in the morning of 19th May. Each session has not more than 6 teams to present. The participating teams conducted a 10-minute business plan presentation and a 10-minute Q&A with the judging panel, introducing 16 projects covering bio-medicine, new energy, environmental protection and energy saving, Internet, education, etc. The judging panel including Mr. Ngai Lap-San, Deputy CEO of Parafuturo de Macau Investment and Development Ltd., Mr. Cyrus Choi, Assistant Director of HKUST Entrepreneurship Center, Mr. Shi Kailiang, Chairman of Guangzhou Dazhihui Venture Service Co., Ltd., Mr. Zhang Guang, Entrepreneurship Head Coach of Entrepreneurship Education Center of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Ms. Maggie Chen, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Polytechnic University Shenzhen Base and Shenzhen Research Institute, Ms. Lok Choi Chan, Integrated Marketing Director of Personal Banking and Channel Management, Bank of China and Ms. Gao Linyun, Manager of Business Incubation Department, HKUST R and D (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. served as the judging panel, scoring the participating teams by the presentation performance and the judging panel also raised some questions related to the presented content and gave some guidance to the team for further improvement.
After a day and a half of fierce competition, seven winning teams were finally selected to enter the next round of regional finals. They are: Smarmac Technology, Weather Classroom (Macau), Colorful City, ARM, An information base for enterprise based on natural language processing, Faraday Technology Energy Co., Ltd and 2048 (Macau) Limited.
The Competition of Macao Regional is sponsored by Bank of China Macau Branch. Those seven teams will make the final business presentation via online platform as before and the first three winners will stand out.
