The Centre for Innovation held the third session of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talk Series

The Centre for Innovation held the third session of the ” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talk Series:Economic Development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area and Innovation Platform of University of Macau “ on 20th Sep 2017 and was honored to invite Prof. Jerome Yen as the speaker. Prof. Jerome Yen is currently the Head of Centre for Innovation and Distinguished Professor of Business Information Systems. He shared with UM students that under the support of national policies, Macau had stepped ahead in Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong and Macao to quickly do some actions for participating in the planning of the Big Bay Area. Prof. Yen discussed about the efforts that Macao has done to develop towards industry diversification. Besides, the University of Macau, as the reserve force for technological innovation, has also created a broader innovative and entrepreneurial incubation platform for young people in Macau.

In this Talk, Professor Yen introduced the economic strength of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area to students.  In this background, he profoundly analyzed Macao as an vital part of  Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area to be the “precise contact person” and the three key positions. He took Israel which has strong technology power as an example to point out that technology development is a competitive element for the economic development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area.

Based on the rapid development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area, “Mass entrepreneurship, innovation” will be put into practice. The Centre for Innovation of University of Macau, as a “Runway”, will help the entrepreneur to incubate the projects and become successful. The first batch of incubation teams is expected to enter the Centre for Innovation by the end of 2017. In the future, the Centre will hold more activities about Entrepreneurial Innovation and provide more resources and assistances to the students who own innovation ideas for entrepreneurship.
